(ORLANDO, Fla. – February 19, 2016) —The 2016 Paws In The Park, held on February 13, helped raise more than $100,000 as well as awareness to drive support for more than 8,000 homeless pets in the Orlando area. Reed Nissan once again joined the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando to produce the event held at Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando.
We look forward to ‘Paws In The Park’ every year,” said Aaron Hill, general manager of Reed Nissan and Reed Nissan Clermont. “It’s a great event for the community to come together for a great cause, and it also raises public awareness and crucial financial support to help dogs and other pets in need.”
According to Paws In The Park organizers, approximately 15,000 people attended and over $100,000 was raised for the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. In addition, 500 free microchip scans and 35 new microchips implants were performed, while four shelter dogs were placed into new, FURever homes, according to Hill.
Reed Nissan employees also volunteered at the day-long event. A special highlight of this year’s event saw Girl Scouts of Citrus Council selling cookies from their ‘Cookie Express’ Nissan vehicle, which was donated to them by Reed Nissan.
Reed Nissan is a longtime supporter of the Pet Alliance and the organization’s two shelters. Currently, the dealership donates a portion of sales from each car sold to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, a pledge that raised over $47,000 in 2015. Reed Nissan’s donations go towards specific projects dedicated to the overall wellbeing of the animals at both adoption locations.
“We are thrilled about the results of the 22nd annual Paws In The Park event, but more can always be done,” Aaron Hill stated. “We’re already thinking about growing bigger for next year.”
